Where we are

One cannot help but marvel at the beauties of this wonderful part of the world. With so much to see and do you won’t want to leave. There are amazing hills, mountains, water falls and Lochs to be found throughout Sutherland and staying with us gives you great access to all of it, with a cosy place to come home to at the end of the day’s marvelling and with our dark skies and if you’re lucky, being north facing, our hut can offer spectacular views of the Aurora Borealis, when in season.

Here in Badninish, tucked away down a quiet lane, we are a small crofting community surrounded by majestic hills and teeming with nature. We have regular visits from all sorts of wildlife including many raptors, for example, buzzards, red kites, hen harriers, ospreys and we’ve even caught sight of the occasional golden eagle! There are lovely walks and hikes to lochs and hills from our doorstep.

We are only a mile or so away from the NC500, so we have wonderful access to all that this corner of the highlands has to offer, including the historic town of Dornoch with its absolutely superb beaches, eateries for all tastes, its own cathedral and a wonderful museum, not to mention the world famous golf course as well as access to fishing passes for local lochs and rivers. There is also bike hire available in the centre of town.

In the next town, Golspie, you’ll find the beautiful Dunrobin castle. There are Cairns and other historic structures to visit too.

Loch Fleet nature reserve is on our doorstep where you can watch the seals, ospreys and maybe, if you’re lucky an otter or two!
